Invisible forest

We often recognize wood only in its raw, timber form. Yet many everyday materials are made entirely from wood — hidden, transformed, and unrecognized. This project uncovers these overlooked origins, revealing wood’s quiet presence in unexpected places.

01

Inspiration

Working with wood, a living material, fills me with quiet joy. From this connection grew a curiosity: how do we truly see wood — and the forest — as a source, not just a supply?

02

Design process

I came across a surprising number of materials made entirely from wood — yet they no longer look or feel like the wood we know. Viscose, cellophane, cellulose acetate — each born from trees, yet transformed beyond recognition. Intrigued, I began experimenting with these hidden forms of wood, seeking new ways to bring them together.

Product

Through material exploration, I discovered a unique pairing: wood veneer and viscose — both flexible, both deeply rooted in nature. This dialogue between textures led to the creation of a woven, fabric-like material made entirely from timber, opening new possibilities in interior and product design.
